Time is Running Out to Ship Holiday Packages

I have spent my entire adult life living many miles away from my childhood home. That pretty much assures me of at least one trip to the post office or UPS counter this time of year, waiting in lines that look a lot like this one looked the day someone snapped a picture of holiday mailing lines in the Lafayette Post Office, circa — looks like the 1970′s to me. What do you think?

Do you recognize anyone?

Shipping Packages from Lafayette CA

Per the United States Post Office website, December 15th was the last day to ship Parcel Post for Christmas arrival. But there’s lots of other options if mailing Christmas boxes is still on your list, USPS and otherwise.

Here are the remaining United States Postal Service dates to keep in mind:

Lafayette Fed Ex Office - Xmas Mailing SuppliesSaturday, December 17

Last day to ship to military for Christmas arrival

Monday, December 19

Last day for most international shipping for Christmas arrival

Tuesday, December 20

Last day to send First-Class Mail for Christmas arrival

Wednesday, December 21

Last day to send Priority Mail for Christmas arrival

One thing that has changed since the 1970s is all the creative packaging options now available, like the festive mailing envelopes I saw this evening at Fed Ex Office.

I was at Fed Ex looking for some easy and useful stocking stuffers for teenagers.  I’d tell you about what I picked but then… it wouldn’t be much of a surprise in the Fox family stockings, would it?

Just know — now that Fed Ex Office has increased its retail space, office-supply lovers have more to browse.
