Lafayette Chamber’s Contest Supports Shopping Local this Holiday Season

The Lafayette Chamber’s “Shop Lafayette” committee has borrowed from a National program that asks local residents to keep their shopping in their own town.  The 3/50 Project offers a simple concept, “Think of three local businesses that you love going to that you would miss if they were gone tomorrow.  Then go out and spend $50 at each of those businesses to help them survive.”

This year, The Lafayette Chamber is running a simple contest similarly designed that supports shopping Lafayette. You’ll find the details on that postcard delivered with your Lamorinda Weekly on December 7.

Lafayette Chamber’s Shop Local Holiday Contest: Buy. Play. Win.

Here’s what’s happening: We’ve kept the rules simple; Just spend a minimum of $150 right here in Lafayette this holiday season at a variety of stores, restaurants and other businesses. Submit at least 3 receipts from 3 different types of establishments that add up to $150 total in order to qualify.  For the Chamber contest, it works to spend $150 across more than 3 establishments as long as it all adds up to $150, you attach receipts and at least 3 different types of establishments are represented!

Lafayete Chamber of Commerce Shop Local Contest Postcard - Winter 2011Just save your receipts, attach them to the card, and drop it all off or mail to the Lafayette Chamber office at 100 Lafayette Circle, Suite 103, by January 6, 2012.

Your card will be entered into a drawing to win one of three cash prizes to help you keep shopping locally in 2012:

1. $500 prepaid VISA gift card
2. $250 prepaid VISA gift card
3. $100 prepaid VISA gift card

Winners will be announced in the Lamorinda Weekly, January 18th.

Shop. Dine. Maybe take a class. It’s all here, and it all counts.

All we ask is that you do what you do best – enjoy Lafayette and all it has to offer. If you find yourself pulling out your wallet, just save your receipts. How easy is that?

Throughout the season stay tuned to this Try Lafayette First blog and our Lafayette Chamber Facebook Page to hear updates on various activities in town as well as things we’re learning are at various businesses. Better yet, keep the momentum going by posting about your favorite Lafayette stores and holiday activities.

Good luck winning the contest!
