Earthquake Kits at Lafayette Car Wash

Looking across Mt. Diablo Blvd from Casa Gourmet Burrito‘s patio, it’s easy to think  that Lafayette Car Wash & Detail Center is only a place where people go to give their car a little TLC — wash & wax, detailing and dent repair.

Earthquake Kits at Lafayette Car WashStep into the Lafayette Car Wash Gift Shop, though, and prepare to be surprised. There, among the usual snacks-for-your-wait, you’ll find what some swear is the best greeting card collection in town along with other useful items that include a fairly large selection of mobile phone accessories. There are toys, creatively designed reading classes and even a few purses!

Earthquake Kits & Other Disaster Survival Needs

Just in today… Earthquake Survival Kits.  The store’s second shipment this season. Initial inventory sold out shortly after the March 11th 8.9 earthquake in Japan.

Do you notice the trend: It happens nearly every time a disaster strikes in the world, whether it’s water, snow or tremor. Reality hits — and many of us heed the wake-up call and reconsider supplies. Only then they’re hard to find!

In any case, the second shipment took longer than expected because demand was up all over. Now that the earthquake kits are in, though, stop by and check them out: You’ll find kits in sizes for 1, 2 and 4 people.

You might want to do that soon… today’s 7.4 earthquake in Japan is likely to renew interest.

You can piece together earthquake supplies by buying from various merchants in town. As far as we can tell, though, Lafayette Car Wash is the only place in Lafayette selling the official kits. If we’re wrong, let us know!

The earthquake kits are priced from $49.99 to $129.99, depending on size.
